Steve Bates is Chief Investment Officer for Zephyr’s marketable securities funds. He specializes in emerging markets listed securities investing and is portfolio manager of the Zephyr emerging markets fund.

Prior to joining Zephyr in June 2002, Mr. Bates was responsible for JP Morgan Fleming Asset Management’s emerging market activities, which he established for predecessor organization, Robert Fleming Co., Ltd., in 1990. He has extensive experience in emerging countries across the world, both as an investor and as a business developer, and was one of the pioneers of investment in Eastern Europe, including Russia.

He received a Law degree from Cambridge University, and he is also a holder of the CFA charter.
